2026 Budget Engagement Survey

Help shape the draft 2026 Budget by letting us know what's important to you.

We appreciate your input into the priorities for the Municipality of Brockton's 2026 Budget. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Information collected from the budget survey will help to pinpoint how well Municipal services are understood and valued, and which services are important for residents.

The budget survey will close on September 10, 2025 and your input will be incorporated into the creation of the 2026 Budget.

Municipal property taxes collected from Municipality of Brockton residents are split in three ways: Municipality of Brockton (the lower-tier municipality), County of Bruce (the upper tier municipality), and the local school board (public or catholic) as selected by the homeowner according to the education tax rate set by the Government of Ontario.

Funding for the Municipality's programs and services comes from different sources, including property taxes, user fees and charges, and both federal and provincial governments.

Understanding your municipal property tax bill

How property taxes are calculated

Municipalities set their annual tax rates by considering:

  • the funding requirements approved as part of the budget; and,
  • value of the tax base (how costs are shared across taxpayers).

Properties are assigned a tax class depending on the use or purpose of each property. The annual tax rates are set according to the annual budget and applied to each tax class. The tax levy is calculated by using the applicable tax rate and the assessed value of each property

These estimates are based on what MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) determines the assessed value of an average residential property to be. This number is different from the market value of a home, but the amounts used in this survey can be considered typical for most households.
